This is the way I've been feeling the last couple days. One day the wind is blowing like crazy from the South and the next day it's blowing like crazy from the North. When I was trying to either open or close the door to the RV, I felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz trying to get into the storm shelter but the wind was so strong she couldn't get it open. Where are my red slippers when I need them!?
We still haven't gotten any rain. I think we're now 12 inches below normal. This morning we were predicted to have freezing rain. Call me stupid but I thought freezing rain was called sleet. Are we in a new era where it's not politically correct to say "sleet"?
The wind is off & on now...some rain has come again this afternoon. It is crazy South Georgia weather! Has the wind stopped construction any? I do hope yall will get rain soon. I know what it is like to be under the wet mark!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I often wondered the same thing... "Sleet" is what we called it back in the day, I guess freezing rain sounds much more serious. LOL
ReplyDeleteI know, we also have had a blustery winter, add a few feet of snow with that & you have what was called in my day a "blizzard".
I'm so ready for 30* weather and some warm sunshine.
Until next time stay warm,
Mel
Hey thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope to spend some time reading yours. It looks interesting. :-) Sleet is little pellets that bounce and don't really stick to anything, but can accumulate into a solid slick sleety mess if the temperatures are right. Freezing rain actually is rain when it hits the ground and instantly freezes to whatever it touches---it can cause massive tree damage and power outages. Thankfully it's not as common as sleet. Freezing rain caused a thirteen day power outage here in 2007 and still cleaning up the mess from the trees it took down. Thats the difference, at least in this neck of the woods. ;-)
ReplyDeleteTammy (and I hope you get rain, but not FREEZING rain!)
wow - love the music. Brings me back to the good old days.....

I don't know about the question of political correctness. I've wondered about that myself. Whatever it is it's darn cold and ugly to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing! Then Tammy cleared it all up for us.
ReplyDeleteI'm just ready for spring! It can't get here soon enough for me!
It was in the high 20's today, but the sun finally came out. It was too cold to sit outside, so I dragged me a chair in front of the sliding glass door that faces west and soaked me up some sunshine. It felt SOOOOO good!
It is so windy here all the time. I'm really tired of the wind!
ReplyDeleteWell, we still call it sleet... however, the forecast said we were to have frozen fog??? I have never heard of that one. Not sure what it was that froze, but everything froze in one form or the other. I hope you get moisture soon! blessings, Kathleen
