A Sense of Calm

Yesterday was foggy with a lot of drizzle......not so much rain but heavy drizzle. We'll take it. We haven't had measurable rainfall since last September.

There was a sense of peace and calm yesterday..no workers, no hammers, no skill saws...just quiet.

I'm Back

Did you think I'd fallen off the planet? Nope, just been super busy and ended up taking a little hiatus from the blogging. Buddy took off a few days to help get some stuff done around here because it's getting down to the nut-cuttin'. Speaking of... earlier this week it was another one of those days where there were just too many entities here at once...electricians, framers and, of course, my cute little plumber kid. Well, I was gathered with several of them in the house, including my plumber kid, having a meeting of the minds while Buddy was chasing Jasper, the golden retriever, out of the house. After mission accomplished, Buddy walks over to us talking and mumbles, yet still loud enough for all to hear, "you need to have his nuts cut out!" The plumber kid quietly responds "I'm just trying to help...". I about busted a gut! What next?!

I leave out of town for a couple days, leaving hubby to watch over things. I come back and find this huge honkin' breaker box on the end of the house!! My gosh, this thing could service an industrial park! And my house is only 1600 sq ft!
What the heck?

If you can't make it out, yes, that is one of the workers on the scaffolding "catching a few rays"...

A couple of days we spent putting in over 500 ft of water line from the well to the house and the barn. I don't think we've been that tired in a long time. But it does give you a good feeling when you do something yourself.

Miss Monroe, Miss Taylor, Miss Berte..where are you?

Yesterday was crazy around here to say the least. Plumbers and framers here together. Where's the electrician that was supposed to be here?

My morning started off with a phone call before 8am from the plumber asking if I was going to be here because he had some questions. Yes, I was planning on being here all day. The plumber gets here first with his crew. There is still no wall between the shower and the toilet. So the framers arrive and are putting in the wall. In the meantime, I am being called out of the trailer about every 20-30 minutes.

I have to admit, I felt like a movie star being called out of her trailer, keeping the crew waiting with baited breath to catch yet another glimpse of me. And here I come, one more time, being so sure to hang on to the rail so I don't bust my butt as I saunter down the steps, thinking

"makeup! Where's makeup?"

So I go into the maze of framework and head over to the men standing once again with hats off, scratching their heads... what is with that? And then I glance over to see that they are looking at the narrow little space for the toilet... and I tell them right off without discussion "if you think I'm giving up buttermilk pie for the rest of my life so I can sit my butt in there, you are clearly mistaken...move that wall!"

The plumber kid...yes, I'll call him a kid..he could be my son.. quits coming to the door of the trailer to get me and, I kid you not, starts calling me on his cell phone! I'm thinking, "no, this can't be". About that time, I hear a big truck coming in...

What the heck?

Oh my goodness, it's a bathtub!
So I turn and walk away with a chuckle.. I don't even want to know...

Tuggin' At My Heartstrings

Look at this little cutie pie..she just turned three months old and her mama doesn't want anything more to do with her. Her mama was one of many horses turned out to pasture...she cut her foot and never quite recovered leaving this darling baby. A friend brought these two fillies over for me to look at. This little one kept tugging at my heartstrings but I didn't keep her. It would have been soooo easy to take that lead rope in my hand and walk her out to the barn. Trust me, I was tempted.

This red and white paint is six months old. She's a sweetheart too but lil' squirt stole my heart.

Buddy gets home from work after dark and I showed him these pictures. As he looked at the pictures, he glanced out towards the barn and said he's not convinced she's not out there in the barn...hhmmm...

The metal is on the front of the house. The electrician and the plumber are due here tomorrow. It's moving along.

When You Get Lemons

My neighbor has a lemon tree and brought me a bag of fresh lemons yesterday. I wish I could share the smell with you. There is no comparison to the ones you get in the grocery store.
Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to make with them. When you get lemons you make.....?

Remember me telling you about my new friend for my dry chapped hands? Udder Delight? I've got to fess up and tell you what I did last night. Well, my lips have been extremely dry and chapped too....yes, I did. When I went to bed last night I thought "what can it hurt?" The best thing that could happen is that I'll wake up with no wrinkles and beautiful pouty movie star lips... and the worst...I'd wake up with lips looking like cow udders!! Ha! Neither, I woke up with lips that just felt good.

Happy Trails...
