Yes, I'm back from a long blogging break..nothing wrong, just been in a slump dealing with everyday life consuming my days. Since I've been away, I guess I could make this post very long and winded but will spare everyone.

Now..what's wrong with this picture? This is Texas! It's not suppose to snow like that here. I will say that it was a sight to behold though.

Even the horses were wondering what all this white stuff was...

Big Hilda kept following me around as if she was saying "please take me back up to the house with you!"

Okay, I've got to get on my soapbox so bear with me...remember our precious Jasper, the golden retriever that someone dumped out here a year ago? Well.. making a very long story very short, the boyfriend of a renter down the road reported us and my next door neighbor for animal abuse/neglect because he felt like our dogs are too skinny! OH MY GOSH! He should have seen this dog when we rescued him out of the bar ditch. We have since learned that when others saw this dog in the ditch, they wanted to shoot him and put him out of his misery. This idiot should see all my other animals and their living conditions! The charges were finally dropped only after a vet submitted a letter of perfect health and the frivilous charge. People like this are dangerous. If they want to report someone for neglect/abuse, they need to sit out on the road and catch all the folks dumping their animals out here for us to fall in love with and add to our ongoing vet and feed bills. It is a sad day in our country when we have to take the time and money to defend ourselves from some idiot people who have nothing better to do. Okay...I'm done.

In the meantime, we are staying in and enjoying the wood stove and I can't wait for spring to get here!!

Happy Trails...

  2. Hey, I have missed you! I'm so sorry that you have had to go through this! What a nightmare! I hope things continue to improve and you can put this behind you soon. What a mess! Well, you have a beautiful fireplace to unwind in front of and I know Spring must be close for you guys, because I spotted bulbs sticking up out of my leaf beds yesterday which still have dabs of snow on them:)
    Just think about June!

  3. So glad you're back, Berte! Apparently, the people who reported you never read your blog, LOL...or they would see that all your animals are very well taken care of and loved! I love the picture of the stove, it looks so warm and cozy.... :-)

  4. Berte! You're back! YEA!

What's the matter with that guy? I hope he's not your neighbor very long! Jasper is fine and dandy - we've all been looking at him for awhile now. That guy must be VERY bored!

Wasn't the snow beautiful? But I hope that's all cuz I'm getting my garden started. I've already had to cover my little baby cabbages and broccolis twice and I think that's enough!

THat stove looks great - wish I had it in my office right now. My feet always get cold here, as there's a draft coming under the door. My top half is okay - it's just my feet. Your pictures are great - good to see you back, friend!

  5. I'm glad to see you back, and certainly understand about the need for the break--I know you're pulled in lots of directions with your new grandbaby, etc.

First of all, THANK YOU for your comments on my blog about Sam...You had good points..Stay tuned...

Second, I don't understand why people don't just mind their own business!! I don't understand why people just don't confront someone if they are worried about an animal instead of making problems! If they knew you, and the situation, they would have known better...We had the same thing happen to us when we lived in a subdivision--People sometimes get my hackles up!!!

Enjoy your weekend!! I guess your snow is probably melted--Unlike ours in VA! :-)

  6. That is terrible! I can't stand meddling people like that! It is horrible you had to deal with that after doing such a good deed by saving that poor dog !
